Clare Winterton

Clare Winterton is an experienced social impact executive with deep expertise in gender equality, philanthropy, partnerships, and creative advocacy. Currently acting as a Senior Advisor to UN Women on its milestone Generation Equality initiative, she was previously VP of Programs and then COO of Global Fund for Women, where her roles included leadership of global strategy, finance, grantmaking, and advocacy. At Global Fund for Women, Clare led the organization’s involvement in numerous innovation partnerships including the RootsLab social innovation incubator for young feminist activists and a major partnership initiative to advance women’s economic empowerment in India. She also oversaw annual grantmaking of over 250 grants in 59 countries, benefiting 1.5 million individuals annually and contributing to changing laws and policies in 11 countries.

Clare also brings a track record designing and catalyzing creative projects that drive money and attention to critical social causes. She is the former CEO of the International Museum of Women (IMOW), an innovative online museum and a global hub for digital storytelling and advocacy. During her tenure, the organization created 7 digital exhibitions reaching more than 2 million online visitors and initiated events and installations in 14 countries on five continents. She was previously Head of Communications at Prince Charles’ UK charity for young people, The Prince’s Trust, overseeing media relations, celebrity engagement, and all marketing communications.

Clare is a qualified futurist, bringing a bold, forward-looking perspective to projects that drive new narratives, strategies and solutions for more socially just futures. She has an MBA with distinction in international business from Cambridge University.
